It's Too LATE

It was friday morning when the Luna Family reached Davao City. They traveled all the way from Pampanga City to reach their new but smaller house in Davao. They've left their old life behind after a terrible incident that burned down everything that the family has pondered for years, icluding their huge house. The family is now ready to begin a new but simpler life.

Tina, the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Luna, is a beautiful young lady. Few days after transferring to their new house, Tina is entering to her new school too as a senior. Her parents were still able to put her into a big private school, though not as much as her school before. Tina, as a transferee found herself new friends in the campus. With them, she was introduced to a socializing environment just like what she has grown up with before. She realized that she must look pretty everyday and must have the best outfit so everyone would always notice her. Fame became her priority in school.

On the other side, her parents strive hard to earn for a living, and to give Tina the same life she has before. However, they always remind Tina how hard it is to give here a good life, thus, she must study hard and do well at school.

Days quickly pass and now, Tina's promenade is getting near. She's very excited and couldn't think what to do to stand among all the girls in the event. Her friends have been talking about dating this guy named Michael Garcia. According to them, he is the most famous guy in the campus and all the girls that were with him before became famous too. When Tina knew about it, she became interested with Michael. She has been thinking how to have him as a date on the promenade. Surprisingly, a week before the prom, Michael asked her to be his date. She was so happy and accepted it immediately. A day after, Michael invited her in a joyride with her friends. She considered it a good opportunity to get to know him better and be close to him, so she said she's going. Michael told her that they'd wait in front of the school at 9 in the evening.

6:30 p.m

At home, Tina prepared for the joyride. She wore her best jeans and put on make-up. When her parents came from work, she told them she's going to her friend's house for a group study. Her dad won't let her but she insisted it, asking why can't she go when this is what she does before.

"Are you sure it is a group study?" his dad asked.
"Of course it is!" Tina exclaimed.
"Tina, don't you ever disappoint us. We trust you," said her father.
"Promise it. You won't disappoint us, right?" her mother added.
"Yes mom, I promise. I won't disappoint you"
"You'll be back here at 9 p.m."

Tina waited in front of the school for an hour, when Michael arrived. Tina was wondering why Michael is alone. When she entered the car, she noticed that Michael was drunk. When Michael started driving, Tina was terrified because the speed was getting higher.

"Michael, where are the others?" she asked.
Michael remained silent and kept driving so fast.
"Michael, stop the car, I'm going home," she added
"No, You stay there!" he shouted.
"But Michael!"

The car is still speeding up like it is the only one on the road. Michael seemed to be out of his mind to continue driving so fast. Tina is screaming for help but no one except Michael can hear her. Suddenly, another car came out of the street and their car strongly crashed into it.

Tina woke up in the hospital and a nurse informed her that the guy she was with in the car didn't make it. The couple in the other car just died a few minutes ago. Tina's tears fell down and she felt so sorry. She is very critical and doctors can't do anything to save her life.

"Before I die, can I ask you a favor?" she asked the nurse.
"Yes, what is it?"
"Please tell my parents I love them so much and I'm so sorry to disappoint them, and ask the family of the person in the other car to forgive me."
"I'm sorry miss, I can't." the nurse answered while watching Tina on her last breathe.

A person heard it and asked the nurse, "Why didn't you grant the dying girl's request?"
"I can't because the couple in the other car is her parents," she answered.

~THE END~
